Re: hackspace starter inventory

get most of the cool stuff my wife hates from work. We recently consolidated some of our branch offices and brought in different office furniture, no room for all the cubes, so I took some. Pretty much same deal with most of the servers etc. I've got enough equipment to fill a small datacenter. enou...

Re: Geeky Photo Gallery

I'm hoping "well". I've got all my in wall wiring done, just ned to install pot lights, then I'm ready to prime and paint the room. Still need to buy a projector and screen (as well as a false wall to hide speakers behind acoustically trasnparent screen), build a riser for my second row of seats, an...

Geeky Photo Gallery

Figured we could use a Nerd-porn thread. feel free to post up pictures of geeky stuff you have built or collected, pretty much anything goes, just keep it work safe :) Some geeky stuff around my house: I do a lot of test labs at home, and have built up a decent sized Cisco lab: http://img.photobucke...

Re: [completed] Direct die PC phase change cooler

At some point I'd like tog et into AVR programing and make a comtroller board for the unit which would utilize thermocouples to measure temperatures at the high and low side of the condensing unit as well as the processor die/evaporator temp. Ideally it would be programable to have a delayed start o...

[completed] Direct die PC phase change cooler

This is a little project I put together quite some time ago (around 2005). It's a cryogenic cooler I built for my computer. It's comprised of a 1/4HP compressor salvaged form a coca-cola cooler, and most of the other components were purchased new from local refrigeration suppliers. The evaporator wa...

Re: hackspace starter inventory

I built an 8'x8' workbench in my shed last fall out of 2x3 and OSB, only took about an hour. I've also got some spare thick laminated desk tops from a cubicle, they're heavy as hell, but work great. I've got a pair of these cubicles at home, only have one set up at the moment since they're kinda hug...

Re: EVENT IDEA: Arduino Hack Night

another interesting idea would be to construct a programmer ahead of time, and show up with a bunch of blank AVRs and breadboards, get poeple to build power supplies, flash chips, and end up with a fleet of arduino clones at the end of the night. have a follow up class on how to use them?
