Outsource to you - arduino/soldering/laser

Discussions on anything related to the evolving idea of Saskatoon's first "makerspace". What is a makerspace to you? What should it be called? What's the charter?

Outsource to you - arduino/soldering/laser

I'm building a fairly complicated timing system for a dogsport, but it largely breaks down to a couple dozen laser tripwires.

This: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/8654 is basically what I need. But they've been discontinued, and the adafruit ones are $20/per, which is exorbitant for what they are.

All I need is a <5mw laser diode/pointer, controlled by an arduino mega at TTL level, capable of having a rise/fall of <1ms. No fancy khz or mhz cycling.

A simple off-the-shelf laser pointer for $1.99 should work. And I should have been able to do it via a transistor and battery pack. But I've tried, and failed.

If someone's willing to do the work for me, I'll pay for supplies and time, or you can source it and we can do a per-piece price or whatever. I need 10 for starters.
