Do you remember the television shows Robot Wars and BattleBots from about a decade ago? Ever wanted to see that kind of robot mayhem in person? Well now’s your chance! On May 18th & 19th at The Centre Mall, the Saskatoon Combat Robotics Club (aka Kilobots) is hosting its 25th event.
I know what you’re thinking – how is it that something this awesome has been going on for so many years and I haven’t heard about it? Well, once you’re done beating yourself up over it, clear your schedule for May long weekend. The combat arena will be set up in front of North Shore Outfitters and fights will be taking place every hour on the hour. And, if you’re so inclined, it’s not too late to start building your own bot to enter in the event! Head on over to the Kilobots site for more details.
Still on our high from Spectrum, we’ve decided to set up a booth at the Computer Science Students’ Society career fair this year. No, we’re not hiring, but our group is a great way to further your education after (or even before) graduation, and we don’t look too bad on a resume either. If you’re around the University next Tuesday, you should come check us out! Things kick off at 10AM in the 3rd floor Spinks computer lab. More details can be found here: http://csss.usask.ca/Career%20Fair.php.
Our monthly meeting will be held at 7PM on Tuesday, December 11th at 422 44th St E. All are welcome to stop by!
We’re happy to announce that Saskatoon TechWorks will have an exhibit at Spectrum 2013, the tri-annual College of Engineering science fair being held January 17-20. We’re going to have lots of cool stuff on display so come by and check us out!
